Powerex Corp. has a full-time regular opportunity for an Accounting Analyst to join our Finance team. We are an entrepreneurial focused, fast-paced physical energy marketing and trading organization. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support all accounting operations – including month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes, including interim reviews and year-end audit.
  • Prepare and review financial information, journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules pursuant to IFRS with a keen eye for detail.
  • Follow-up on resolving account discrepancies proactively.
  • Oversee receivable and payable functions, including:
    • Tracking and monitoring receivables, payables, and payments
    • Verifying account coding and mapping
    • Ensure billing and reconciliation completeness and accuracy requiring understanding of underlying trade data.
    • Acting as a team resource to investigate and resolve accounting questions and issues considering IFRS principles and internal controls.
    • Enhance monthly internal reporting and checking.
    • Analyzing changes in contracts and considering downstream impacts to reporting
    • Coverage of receivable and payable functions as needed.
    • Support with cash management

Other Responsibilities you may have: 

  • Working with large datasets and complex spreadsheets.
  • Support the design, implementation and testing of new reports, systems, or system updates as needed.
  • Recognize opportunities for enhancing processes and streamlining workflows to create efficiencies and improve data accuracy, while maintaining a
  • strong control environment.
  • Provide support to the tax, budget and forecasting processes.
  • Build relationships across our organization to ensure the finance function is providing value-added support to the organization.
     

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Qualified CPA or equivalent
  • 4+ years of related experience, including experience working in industry
  • Experience with working with or overseeing accounts payable and receivables
  • Extreme attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
  • High standards of performance and accountability, a strong desire to learn, and a self-starter
  • Proven experience understanding and interpreting large volumes of financial and non-financial data
  • Strong understanding of accounting systems (SAP preferred), billing systems, and non-financial systems
  • An improvement mindset.
  • Flexible and adaptable to rapidly changing business conditions and priorities
  • Experience reading, interpreting and applying accounting standards (IFRS or US GAAP) would be an asset
  • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) complex ideas and thoughts in an organized manner across the company to all levels
     

LOCATION
The role is a hybrid role. The Powerex office is located in downtown Vancouver on major transit routes (near both Skytrain and Seabus).

COMPENSATION
The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $88,000 - $95,0000/annum.
The actual salary offered will take into consideration a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual’s skill, experience, education and training, the market compensation of the role, and the consideration to internal equity.
