Position: IT Business Analyst –Data Systems
Duration: 1-year contract with a strong possibility of extension

What you will do:
• Manage and fulfill data requests from other departments, bringing in new data or changes to existing one in the cloud-based data platform
• Support and enhance DataMarts by gathering business requirements, testing quality, managing deployments, and supporting daily operations.
• Collaborate with technical teams, stakeholders, and vendors to improve functionality of DataMart and/or the Data platform.
• Support Data Governance activities, ensuring data quality, standards and processes are followed
• Monitor the activities in the data platform, ensuring operational stability of the platform in terms of performance
• Drive data insights using tools like SQL, Tableau, and Power BI—supporting everything from operational reports to ad hoc business requests.
• Support AI Initiatives, leveraging the data from the Data Platform to enable advanced analytics and build intelligent solutions to drive data-informed decision-making
What we are looking for:
• 2+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst, ideally on data-centric architecture.
• Understanding of application lifecycles, from requirements to deployment and support.
• Proven skills in SQL, demonstrating ability to work with complex queries.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Sigma, Power BI, or SSRS.
• Experience managing or contributing to projects using Agile methodologies.
• Clear, confident communication skills and an ability to build strong relationships with technical and non-technical users alike.
• A proactive, inquisitive mindset, with a track record of taking ownership and delivering results.
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills improve systems functionality.
Nice to have:
• Exposure to Streamlit, Python or other scripting languages.
• Experience working in or supporting energy trading or financial operations
• Familiarity with vendor-based systems and cloud-hosted solutions
• Past co-op or office experience in a technical or analytical role.
Work Environment & Requirements:
• Salary Range: $50-$55 Hourly – note this is a contract position.
• Hybrid work model with a minimum 1 day/week in-office (downtown Vancouver).
• Core working hours: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday–Friday.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
